New '73 Owner
My name is Brian, and I am the new proud owner of my old dream car (again).
I first bought the car just after I turned 18, and it was... for lack of better words, rough. It needed paint (but already had about 10 paint jobs on it), brake work, engine work, etc. But it ran, and I was in heaven the moment I hit the road.
I did little things working on it my senior year in high school, and prepping it for the paint booth. The night I graduated, my mom's neighbor backed into it and crushed part of the passenger door and front clip.
I soon was shipped to Iraq, where I saved most of the money I earned to help restore the 73 to good shape. A new front clip, 67 style hood, "vette-a-rosa" doors, carpet, door panels, re-upholstering the seats, misc. suspension parts, and a new motor, and it was good to be reunited with my car.
Just over 4 years ago, I was going through a financial hardship, and had to sell.
I recently had a few issues with my 04 Colorado and told my wife I wish I had an old Corvette again that just needs spark, air, and fuel. Looking on Craigslist, I was shocked to see my old car for sale!!
A week later, and a few dollars less in the bank, I am the proud owner of my old car (now the 3rd and 5th owner!). What's great is the guy also only added on 850 miles in the 4 years! I am excited to get back to work on her, and get her to show quality.
I'm in Kansas City, and looking for some other vettes to ride with and learn from.
I've heard a million stories of people who wish they'd never sold "the car that got away". I'm glad I can say I got to get it back!
