Default My 69 vette

Hi all,
For different reasons, the Corvette is more than a car. My story is...

This particular car was my Dad's, ordered new by him in 1969. Dad and I used to work on the car together until I was in about Jr. High, when, for many reasons, the car laid in the garage until his death last year.

I decided that this car needed to stay in the family. With a three year old at home and another on the way, I didn't really have the time or energy to do this myself. This is where the great folks at County Corvette in West Chester, PA came in.

Dad was really the only one to ever touch the car, and the car never had any warranty replacements, so it was very original when they got it.

The original laquer paint did have chips and some touch up work, so I had them color match it for a show paint job.

My goals for them were to make me feel like I was picking the car up new in 1969.... and I feel they did more than that.

I really don't own this car-- I'm just hanging onto for my kids.

Wanted to introduce myself, and share the story.

Enjoy the pics of the restoration, and I'll have more recent pics up soon.

Welcome to the Forum Your 69 is absolutely beautiful and how great it is to have a car that has so many memories from the past and will create more in the future. The pictures are great and show how much work goes into bringing a car back to that condition. I know you and your family will get many years of enjoyment from such nice car.

Default wow... thanks everyone

Thanks for all the welcome.

I've added some pics in an album with the car in 1970, as well as the car now.

Stay tuned for pictures on the car on the Salt Flats from 1971!

Great story. Nice color. Saving Vette for kids is like advertisement for Patek Phillips (fine watches.) "You don't own them, you hold on to them for the next generation."
