C4 (1986) overdrive inoperable
Hello fellow Vette folks:
I own a 87 Vette and so far she is healthy. My brother-in-law has an 86 with a non-operating OD unit. We just installed the trans and OD bought on e-bay as his original had bearing problems. Finished up late Sun 08/29/10 the 4 speed unit seems to work Ok but the OD does not kick in. Does anyone think the problem could be the pressure switch in the OD unit? Sure do not care to take out the whole trans. unit again but we pretty much have the procedure down pat but do not have the time.
We used a motorcycle jack (Craftsman) to raise the unit to the bellhousing and that makes the job easier. The backbone (spine) is another problem altogether and worst part of the job, tips to deal with this would be helpful if anyone has ideas. My brother-in law is pretty good with the C4 but would appreciate feedback on this problem before ripping the whole thing apart again. Thank you very much.
