Hi, My name is Dave Anderson. I'm just wanting to introduce myself on here. Don't currently own a Vette but i've been looking for some years now. I think i've finally dwindled it down to years and options I would like. Mainly want a C-3, preferebly a 69 though with a manual and not white! Anyway, I'm hoping to learn a bit more about my selection as well as lots of useful info once I do finally make my purchase!
Welcome aboard. A C-3 is not a bad choice, just dont go beyond 1972. Condition and docs equal, buy the car with the most HP and options as you can. Good luck

It sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you want. Find the car you want, with the options that are important to you, and in the condition you're willing to pay for --- and buy it. Good luck in your search -- and welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the forum and good luck with your search! Be sure to check the C3 for sale section regularly as you'll most likely find a nice C3 that meets your requirements.
Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I've been looking through the C3 sale section and I see quite a few that would meet what i'm looking for, except for the price. Most i've found are fully restored or in work. The others that are closer to my price, on the west coast. I was searching craigslist in my region and found a 69 that's partially done with restoration. From the pictures it looks like the frame was painted and some engine work done, no price though. Has the 4spd with 427. I was trying to find a place online to get a general fair price, but can't find anything that actually helps.
That sounds like a reasonable idea. How do you go about finding such an expert though? Just find a hot rod shop of sorts?
No. I would start by finding/joining a few corvette clubs in your area. I would also check out the NCRS to see if any members live near by. I would also read a lot of posts in the C3 general or tech/performance sections. In any of these ways someone should emerge that you trust and can do an inspection. It the best insurance policy there is. Last resort, you can ask for names of C3 experts in the C3 section. Sellers/dealers often are full of BS and its a buyer beware world. Be patient and good luck.
Looks like you've already got some good advise about going about a search for the Corvette of your dreams. It might cost you a little upfront to have a professional look at it, but it will save you a lot of headaches and dollars down the road.
