New to the forums, 2002 C5
Hey guys, I picked up my 2002 Electron Blue C5 about 2 weeks ago now, and still can't stop grinning everytime I look at it. I've driven it a handful of times so far, and every time I get behind the wheel, I'm simply amazed how different it is from the fbodys I've had previously. I still have both my '99 and 2000 Z28s, as one is my DD, and the other is a cheap track rat I picked up not long ago. But anyways, I stumbled across this C5, fell in love with the color, have wanted a vette forever, and decided to pull the trigger. It's a 2002, 6 speed, coupe, electron blue, black interrior, 32k miles, has some sort of dual cone CAI on it with a short throw shifter. Stock otherwise. I've got my '99 Z that I've had big plans for, and am already halfway into the build, so I'm not sure if I'll stop and sell it as is to dump some coins into the C5, or continue with what I'm doing. The vette doesn't see hardly any usage, and I plan on keeping it that way.
Few questions though. I've been around the LT1/LS1 fbody world for years and years, and know very little when it comes to the 'vette platform. One thing that aggrivates me (but I DID expect), is the terrible wheel-hop. I know it's common on alot of IRS cars, but in my experience, wheel hop can get real costly real fast. What is the solution to these transaxle setups? Of course in the fbody, the 10 bolt is the weak link and most guys bust for a 12 bolt/9"/Dana 60. Is there a common upgrade for these? Anyways, the dark pictures are of the night after I brought it home, day picture is the day after a night out on town, so it's still not all that clean. Still waiting on my zaino package to come in
