Well, my thread in the classifieds got locked since I'm not the actual owner of the vehicle, though we live together as a couple.
I'm just the guy who towed it 800 miles, got it running, and
got it titled and registered in California, and yes it passed smog with flying colors, ha.
It had been sitting for many many years, 29K original miles.
We got it registered and titled (hurray!) passed smog and everything.
She's not computer literate, so I had posted for her.
In any case it will be going up for sale soon, we now have plates, and waiting for title in the mail.
I guess I'll have to have her register a username, and post the sales listing. Well more like register a new user name and have her dictate what she wants the ad to say.
Damn we hired this guy to help with the reg and title and he f'd up the paperwork,
the title says 59K miles. Arrgh.
Yet, the smog says 29K+ miles as does the speedo.
Why is nothing ever simple?
Well at least we have the title, which most people said would be close to impossible to get. For all the huffing and puffing the CA DMV makes about
not registering or paying the non- operational status,
when you store it (in this case Oregon) for a long time, it falls
off the DMV's computers, and possession literally is 9/10 of the law.
Glad we didn't march down to the DMV with the plates with 1999 registration
from CA (it was never registered in Oregon) they'd have wanted
12 years of back registration or some sort of
signed affidavit from her X to prove it was out of state the whole time.
