Don't have a Vette yet, but I'm looking to get one sometime in the next year or two. Just moved into a new house and need some time to settle in, get some projects done, and recover from building expenses.
So far I've narrowed my search down to a C3 between 68 and 71. Nothing against newer or older models, but this range seems to fit my wants best, which include not insanely expensive, good looks, and most important, a minimum of extra stuff (electronics, emission control plumbing, catalytic converter, etc) to add to the complexity of wrenching. I'd prefer a convertible, but if a killer deal presents itself for a T-Top I might change my mind.
I consider myself to be fairly adept mechanically, I rebuilt two engines while in college, so the thought of working on an older car doesn't scare me, in fact, I'm kind of looking forward to it.
I'll be looking for something I can drive right away and spend some time prettying it up later. It would be nice if it was fairly original, but a replacement engine wouldn't necessarily be a show stopper. Not looking for a trailer queen or something I would hesitate to drive on a rainy day.
Other interests include bicycling, woodworking, and boating ('98 Mastercraft Prostar 205).
So, that's about it. Too early to buy something, so I'll invest some time in the forums gathering information and spending the summer working, doing house projects, and taking my 3 girls (wife and 2 daughters) out on the lake for some watersports.
