New from NH!
I'm new here and on a quest for some information. A friend of mine has a c6 corvette that he is building up into a race car and I wanted to help him add some personal touches here and there to the car. I have access to a small bench lathe on which I've learned to make shift *****. The C6 vette is unique where it doesn't have a threaded shaft and I am trying to figure out what to do about machining it. Anyway, hopefully you guys will be able to point me in the right direction.
I need to know what the diameter of the hole in the factory shift **** is, the depth of that hole, and the diameter and positioning of the set screw hole. As I am making the **** as a surprise for him I don't have access to the stock shift **** to get the dimensions myself.
As for a little about myself, my name is Matt, I live in the lakes region in NH, am an avid car/truck/motorcycle/snowmobile guy, own a 89 Mitsubishi Starion and a few other toys, and I work in the electromechanical industry.
If the ***** go well enough, I'll consider making them and selling them but I gotta check into the for sale restrictions on the site and whatnot. If someone wants a custom ****, for the time being please PM me and I'd be glad to accommodate them.
Take care all!
Can't answer your technical question about hole diameter and depth. Just want to point out that the mounting changed in '08. So you need to know what your year shifter your friend is going to use. You might have to buy a couple *****, one of each style. Here is some quick info I pulled up for you but again, doesn't answer your main question. Good luck.

Oh, I meant to suggest asking the guys in C6 Tech/Performance Forum. Someone might know or be able to get some measurements.

and welcome to the best forum for Corvette owners
I actually found the third link down a bit earlier on in the day and it gives me a good idea of how things go together. I may make the **** in two pieces for ease of machining...Sometimes it's easier to make 2 parts that thread together rather than one more complex one.
Either way, I'll keep looking around a bit and I'll repost the topic in the performance subforum if nobody happens to drop some knowledge in here
. I waited a bit too long--I'll be in the shop making the **** tomorrow so I gotta find the information quickly, lol...
