I found this forum while looking for info on my 72.I have already aquired some great stuff.
The car came to me through a friend. It was going to be restored in honor of its previous owner but lack of money and lack of interest prevailed and it sat under a tarp in the beautiful washington state weather for 8 years. Then it was offered to me at a price I couldn't pass up.
It is a 72 coup 454 4 sp car with A/C,No PS No PB. To say this car has had a rough life would be an understatement. The original big block is long gone and it had a nasty(as in Healthy) 350 in its place. The paint is falling off after sitting under a tarp for so long and it had mushrooms growing inside. The engine compartment looked like a 15 year old got a rivet gun and a roll of aluminium for christmas with a hand built fan shroud and misc pieces of aluminium riveted to the fire wall and inner fender. I will post some pictures after I get used to the site.
I have cleaned it out,Installed new brakes all around and pulled the small block. I spent 4 hours yesterday tracing all of the wires in the engine compartment harness and will move on to the others next.At times I just stand back and look at this car and wonder why. Why these things were done and why I feel the need to fix them?
I have a 454 sitting in my shop that will fill in for the original. Hope to at least have it moving and stopping in a few weeks. It will be ugly but alive again.
