Just bought my first 'Vette today. I picked up an '81, automatic, and at the risk of upsetting purists, it is painted the burnt orange that a lot of manufacturers are using today. It needs a little bit of work. The wiper switch isn't working and it definitely needs rear shocks. Looking forward to gathering as much info as possible from everyone here.
I don't think too many will have issues with that. Burnt Orange! Nothing wrong with that. Something like Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic? Or more like that 68 Bronze?
Your paint may have that Xirallic aluminum-oxide flake ingredient that was produced in Japan for German Co Merck. That's in limited supply right now due to the tsunami over there so be careful.
My first vette a loooong time ago was just like yours only it was dark blue. Brings back happy memories. Didn't have it long 'cause my daughter turned 16 and the insurance would have killed me so I sold it. Just got my second vette May last year and loving it. You will too.
