Hi - I'm a new member that owns a C-4 (85 red). Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who owns a classic Corvette that does not run and has not run for a long time. It previously belonged to my best and longest friend who could no longer afford to keep it running or store it. I started storing it for him in 2005, but he suddenly passed away in 2009 while it was still in my possession. Long story. Glad to be here. The site will help me keep my best friend's loving memory and his passion for Corvettes alive and well. It takes up every inch of space in my garage, but I gladly make this sacrifice to accommodate it. Even though it is titled in my name and I could freely dispose of it, the thought of letting his prized possession go or trading it in on a newer model doesn't even cross my mind. Like him, I do hope and dream of getting it going again.

Thank you for your thoughtful words. I'm committed to taking care of it and hopefully being able to somehow restore it to be roadworthy, in due time. I'm not in any hurry to do it, which is probably a good thing, because I already know it will be a lengthy, expensive process.

Thank you!
P.S. I'm excited to learn about what's quietly sitting in my garage, patiently waiting for me to get to know it better and start taking good care of it. It's been a long time coming, since my BFF stopped driving it in 2005. It's last drive was an unlicensed one of about 3 miles -- from this place where my friend was renting a room (and couldn't keep it parked there any longer) to mine. It barely made it and once it was parked, I don't think he ever tried to start it again -- even when he would visit every other day. I suppose it hurt his pride so badly when he knew he couldn't keep it running or pay for insurance any more, that once he parked it with me for safekeeping, he turned his back and walked away. Strangely, in February, 2009 he had just taken out new insurance on it -- in the hopes of being able to get it going again. (Someone loaned him a lot of money, so getting the Corvette was at the top of his priority list.) Unfortunately, he died within 30 days of taking out that policy.

The shade of red on yours is very similar to the all-over new paint job my friend did on his in about 2003. The body and paint are still in excellent condition, unlike the rest of it.

Thanks! P.S. Your signature logo is interesting. I used to watch the show "Fear Factor" a lot, and tons of people around the St. Louis area still drive around with the "Fear This" emblem.
