I actually joined as a non paying member over 2 years ago but never introduced myself. Finally I'm introducing myself as a paying member, I got tired of mooching off of everybody else.
Anyway here's my story: 38 years ago I bought a brand new 1973 Silver Corvette convertible(20 years old), a year later my dad bought a 1974 coupe. In 1981 I sold my Vette for a 1981 Delorean.
Now 4 years ago I had a business meeting at a house in the suburbs of Milwaukee with a business partner of mine. Well we walked into the garage with the owner of the house and I said "I see you have a 74 Corvette convertible". And he said "Oh I see you know your Corvette's" and I said not really, just these years. Well my partner was asking about the car and before the owner could answer I answered. Finally the owner said he had to get rid of the car because he had Fiber Myalgia and hadn't been able to get in the car for a couple of years now. He asked me if I might know anybody who would interested in the car, now I said no but I'd ask around. I knew what the value of it because every so often I checked Ebay and I figured somewhere north of $15,000. To my surprise he said for you, you can have it for $8,000. I said I'll be back in a couple of hours. And that's my story, glad to be on the forum.
Welcome to posting on the Forum (finally )!!!! Congratulations on your C3!! Great story on the find. Many of us wish we could have one of those finds in our life. Good luck, enjoy the car and the Forums.
No, I had the Delorean for 8 years also, sold that for a Porsche 928, then sold that for a Mercedes SL500. Didn't drive any of them much. Just before the 74 Vette again I was into old British Sports cars mainly MG's. Finally got tired of constantly fixing them. The Corvette was in such good shape and all original that as long as I kept the miles down and fixed things as they broke it shouldn't be too much of a headache. As of right now I'm still having fun with the minor problems. And next to foreign cars it's a bit cheaper. 1975 was last year of convertibles till 1986
