Glad to say I just got a nice straight C5 convertible, my first Corvette.
It's had a few owners and a lot of miles, (for a vette) but is in good cosmetic shape and runs out strong. I guess the car had a tough life, as it seems everything that could come loose from the car is gone, and a few of the minor and expensive systems have called it quits.
In any event, it's a fun car. Kind of a cross between a rat rod and a caddie. The only negative is that the only way I have found to keep from continually buying gas is to park it. Not really the cars fault.
I heard a report one time from a guy that used to caddie at the country club where the GM guys used to play golf. Said they had a culture of drinking, that no matter how early the tee time , the guys would be hammered. Seems to make sense, considering what the car does and doesn't do, the Aztec, and driving such a rich company into financial ruin.
Glad those guys are gone, since I'm into this car for the long haul. I don't think the old management cared beyond what they could sell right now and screw tomorrow. Most higher cost cars don't follow that thinking, going more for a long term quality identity with the product. Happy those days are past. Pride in the machine comes first with me, but the company behind the car is also a part of pride of ownership.
