Hi my name is Pete, pretty much self indicating by the username I chose.
I am in Southern California. I own a Pewter C5 Conv AT w/over 100 on it. It's OEM through and through. Not my first though, as I once owned an 86 Anniv (C4 w/ the white door guard and larger wheels) back in the late 80's. I'm an ASE Master Tech going on a decade soon. I still hold my cert, but these days only help a friend who owns a repair facility when he is swamped or has a good riddle car to diagnose. I hope to put a worthy contribution to the bank of knowledge here.
As far as Corvettes, it is a well made car these days. I'm pretty sure that as long as moms are still baking apple pies in the US, they will continue producing Corvettes.
Welcome to CF Pete. I had one of those 88 35th Anniv myself and wouldn't mind another one. Good to have a ASE MT on board. You may be hanging out at C5 Tech a lot.
Don't know if Vette production will last forever. Production #'s are few nowadays. Only 11,647 for 2012 model run which is almost 1K less than 2011. So if we're receding based on sales we got 8 yrs left. 1961 production was 10,939. 2013 may match 97 due to lower production run.
C7 will either make or break the cycle.
6GenVette those sound like some bleak production numbers. I sure hope it doesn't recede any less.
Hopefully the C7 will launch the vette sales out of trouble. I sure hope it works out though. I just can't see them stopping the vette with its long history.
That's like saying no more apple pie!
Thanks again very much to all, and I guess I meant 88 earlier. Did I say 86? not even sure now. Whoa man I tell ya, I hate that part about getting old.
