I am brand new to the Corvette world. I just purchased a 2008 that I will be picking up at the end of the week. It is the std coupe with Targa top, std 6.2 L engine with auto tranny.
I've got a bunch of questions, but for now I will ask those that I deem most important at this time.
1) what type and weight of engine oil is recommended?
2) Is it absolutely necessary to run premium gas? ( I always run premium in my Harley, but it only has a 6 gallon tank). What happens if I run an 89 octane ethanol blend?
3) I downloaded a 2008 owners manual, and read where the vette does not come with a spare tire, nor does it need one. So what happens if you are out on the road and run over a sharp object that punctures the tire?
Thats all for now. I look forward to getting to know some of you in the weeks ahead.

Welcome and congrats!
Here are my answers to your questions:
1) The factory fill is Mobil One 5W-30. A lot of guys will stick with it, and others will switch to Amsoil or some other premium oil. Stick with the 5W-30 unless you plan to track the car, then you may want to consider a little heavier weight oil.
2) Yes, ALWAYS use premium fuel. That's what the computer is programmed for. It's OK to to use lesser octane in a pinch, but get back to 93 octane as soon as possible.
3) Your car came with run flat tires. No need for a spare.
