Default Newbie Here!

Ok guys, i hope i don't annoy anyone as I know i'm asking some dumb questions so please bare with me. I'm really interested in looking into buying a c4. Stingrays are my favorite but to no avail i cant afford that haha. OK so here's my dumb questions. What king of MPG's do you guys average with a stock c4? Any common problems (as in fault water pump design, etc) ? Is the maintenance (brakes, rotors, etc) much higher than other vehicles? Sorry for the questions but any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
CMiller95

Default Welcome to the forum

22-25 MPG can be accomplished. Once a battery is disconnected the puter has to re-learn everything so don't panic.

Bought a 87 for 10K @ 36K. Replaced the water pump after water drip. P&L was $334. Later I did 4 BFG G-Force tires & 4 wheel alignment for 650. and Plat plugs for 16.

Sold it for 10K 3&1/2 yrs later @ 68K

On my higher mileage 87 prior to that one I had the brake booster go bad and serviced the AC P&L was 354 total. Uppr & lowr Ball Joints 235 Labor. Pts was 194 & 170 @ dlr trade price back in 02. Also the Y pipe 147 parts only.

This was at around 125K on miles on the 2nd one.

3rd one was 88 35th w/ 16K when I got it. Outdoor car had condensation in fuel system = bad fuel pump. Replaced orig tires.

4th one at 91K was a 88 also. A/Trans fluid change out. Y pipe. Prior owner did new Injectors at dealer 1266 & got soaked. Much cheaper now elsewhere.

If U need a Battery go to Wally World for under 90 U get free replacement 3 yrs on the Maxx. Got one on my 03 (freebee).

This stuff is run of the mill maintenance. No higher or different than soccer mom cars. Same with brake work. All normal wear & tear.

C4 is the most affordable Gen but it's also the first of the high tech cars. A good thing. I got a 90 M6 Coupe 69K miles listed FS on the forum right now but I have 2 parties lined up for it. However, until a deal is final I'll take up to 100 backups on it. Had AC conversion & charge done P&L 208 and new Solanoid/Starter 165 pts only.

The C4 General Discussion can help U out further or U can do advance search on topic. Also utilize Tech and others on the drop down menu for info.

Welcome to the Forum. With my 93 (6 speed) I average about 21 mpg and have gotten as high as 28 on the highway. You can find tons of help and info in the C4 section of the Forum. Good luck on your search and start here first in C4 for sale
