My first experience with Corvettes was driving my friends 1956 when I was 14. Over the years I have owned several vets starting with a new 1969 Riverside Gold Convertible 427 3X2's with a 4 speed. I now have a 2007 Atomic Orange and a 82 Collectors Editions. I have always dreamed of owning a 1956 and recently found one stored in a garage about 10 minutes from where I live. The guy started a restoration in 1980 and lost interest after a couple of years. I thought I knew every old car within 50 miles but this was a well kept secert. After several months of begging I now own the 12th 1956 Covette made. I have since started a frame off restoration and hope to have it back on the road by spring in time for some fun in the sun.

welcome. what a great find. it has always been my fantasy t find a corvette stored away somewhere, How about documenting the restoration on here with pics as you go along. i am sure many would love to follow it. perhaps if you would do that we could get it posted as a sticky thread so we could all follow it easily.
Thanks Dadman1950, I am new to the site and still trying to find my way around. I can see now its going to be helpful with the restoration. I am a photographer so its a natural for me to take pictures and I would be glad to post them.
It's amazing what U can find within a short distance. I located & bought a 50th & 40th some 15 miles away in climate controlled storage. Then a C5 Z06 popped here just 10 miles away with 1K miles, also climate controlled storage but timing was off.
I know U gotta be proud to own something that spectacular & it being the 12th one at that. The 56 saved Corvettes from extinction and now you're saving it in turn. WTG
56Vette welcome.
My first Vette was also a '56. They have always been one of my favorite years. Post pics when you can, it is truly a great find.
All the best!
