Hello,

Been lurking and reading for a couple years. Have always loved Corvettes since I was a kid and my dads best friend, Mr. Countryman, had a Stingray (C-3) when we lived in Virginia in early 70s. That started my infatuation as he had the baddest car in neighborhood and the hottest wife...and even in elementary school I thought she would one day be mine.....car not wife but then again. Well, father drove Triumph TR-4A......and I had a smattering of motorcycles and owned a couple sport type cars....TR7 Anniversary Edition, 1973 BMW 2002 tii, 1984 Saab 900 Turbo, 2004 BMW 328i, 2007 BMW 335i. I am to point I want a vette...

My true desire is a 69 Vette with 427 motor in factory green with saddleleather tan interior. The cost of a completely refurbished one may be out of my league and feel I would need that at minimum as I would drive the hell out of it as my daily driver. The more practical side of things says maybe settle for a 1972 or maybe even 1974 as I like the bumpers...but at least the 74 still had no catalytic converters if I remember right. THen reality steps in and I think I might need to get a low mileage 2002-2004 C5...maybe Z06...and use as daily driver...maybe some performance improvements on suspension and engine...and then later if able get my coveted C3.

Then I get thrown for another loop with announcement of C7...no, not for me..hahaha...but thinking if it takes off and there are C6 GS left sitting on the lot...a great deal on a C6 might be in the works if the prices get down in the $30-39k range with 0% interest. Hey, I can dream cant I?.....or better yet find a 2008+ C6 that someone needs to sell quick to get their new C7.

So there you have it.....the ramblings of a crazy man...knowing what he wants but not how it will turn out when said and done. Would love to have one now but would have to sell my motorcycle to get it as still paying on two of my other vehicles at moment and dont need an additional car note every month. LOL

Well, thanks for my disjointed, sporadic, maniacal rambling and enjoyed the reading so far and now that I have finally registered after all this time....can feel less guilty about all the info I have gleamed from these pages.

Thanks again...

The confusion and rambling will subside upon the purchase of a Corvette. At least, it did for me.

Welcome Brock63. If you're crazy then we all are. Sounds like you got the C3 bug bad and that's good. We need people like you to presrve the legacy of the last true American icon.

As your daily driver, I'd point you towards a C5 or C6 however. And I hear you on the Grand Sport C6 as well. I got bit hard by Vette fever several months ago after having seen a couple on the street and I hadn't really kept up enough to know about all the differences between the various models (besides the obvious ZR-1). But it turned out that it was the wide body tat really grabbed me. Nothing wrong at all with the base and I almost bought one but at the end of the day, I needed the wide body GS for reasons that are obvious (to me) in the photos below. So welcome again and good luck with your Vette hunting.

Rathmullen,

thanks for the confidence...yeah figure a C5 or unbelievable deal on C6 will be the answer until I have the time, funds, and confidence to save a nice C3....69, 72 or 74.

If I get a C5 will likely be a Z06.....a C6 will likely be GS unless a really nice Z51 shows up with low miles, low price and all the extras.

Now to get a Cyber Gray or Atomic Orange. LOL

Thanks all....
