Greetings, 23 year old Marine stationed down at Oceana Virginia. New to the world of cars, honestly. I have a 97 C5 and I am honestly loving it. I don't think I can ever go back now that I have made the transition. Anyways, looking to see if there are any people in the area looking for someone else to ride with. The car needs some work, It's kinda difficult trying to figure this all out on my own. Thanks for your time and hope to see some of you soon!
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the C5! You'll find plenty of knowledgeable and helpful members on the C5 general and tech sections that will be able to help you along the way. Thanks for your service!
Just a fun update on progress so far. This last weekend I completely redid my interior in my compartment. I put down a layer of padding, and then used a thick rubber as my actual form for the bed. I covered it with a good black auto carpet. I absolutely hate the lids on the three storage areas in the rear, so I fastened hinges to the rubber mat and used stainless diamond plate for lids. The rubber also does a phenomenal job controlling the noise on the inside. Which I have seen a lot of users complaining about.
Today I redid my seats... They were absolutely horrendous to begin with... but luckily enough I found an ad on CL of a man selling his original seat covers for 50$. I showed up expecting something much less, but these were extremely new! Absolutely perfect condition! So they are now installed. (Hog rings are evil).. probably because I did not have the correct pliers, just needle nose.
I will post pictures soon, but those have been my projects so far. Prior to joining this forum I put new wheels, a borlas offroad exhaust, and a couple other little accessories. Still all very new to this but having a great time learning!
If you don't mind waking up early on a saturday you can hit up one of the local cars and coffee's in the area. They seem to rotate them each weekend between va beach, newport news, and williamsburg. I went to a few when I used to live in Hampton Roads. The few times I could drag myself out of bed early enough to go to one of them I didn't see many corvettes, just the ones my friends and I drove to them.
You will see a good amount of classic cars, higher end cars, and meet fellow car lovers.
Congratulations on your new vette! I'm new to the corvette world also. I have millenium yellow 2000 C5 that I got in November. I love it! You should definitely join a corvette club. It's a great source for information and a blast getting together with wonderful people who share the same passion. Nothing like cruising with your vette family.
Hello Evan,
Give me a shout I live in Hampton, VA. I use to own a 98 C5 6 speed manual. Fun cars but the electrical systems can be a nightmare. Give me a shout if you need help. I'm no expert though! I'm now have a 1969 Stingray Conv 427/M-22. I love my C3
