So I purchased a bidders' pass and attended the Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Fl a couple of weeks ago. No real intent to purchase a Corvette...sure! My wife knew I'd come home one of the 10 days of the auction with one, just not the first day!
The 1984 white coupe looked to be the cleanest car on the grounds, and it's the first car I looked at as I came in the gate. It was late on the auction list that first day, but by the time it came on the block, I knew I'd bid on it.
Very clean, low mileage, and the featured car in the small book of "America's Sport Car" for the 1984 model; a plus.
I didn't break the bank, and have some of my bidding money left over for 'improvements'.
So I'm back in the game since owning a 1965 convertible in my early Navy days in Pensacola. As most people would say, "I wished I had hung on to it!" But I like the lines of the C4 and have my new play toy.
I watch those auctions endlessly...
Congrats on your new vette. Enjoy
Me too. Even attending, I had Velocity recording on my DVR at home. I've still got the last Saturday's 8 hours to go through! I got the bug about a year ago; just missing the Kissimmee auction in 2012. So I had to attend this year. It's a great car show alone, with over 3,000 cars to look at, and the majority are open for viewing inside and under the hood; something you usually can't do at a car show.
