Default My First Vette

I joined the forum about a month ago and have been pretty busy the last month or so at work as well as enjoying my new baby. I'll start off with a little bit of a back story and I guess my search for my Vette took about six or eight months. I knew exactly what I wanted from exterior color all the way down to what options I didn't want. I made up my mind that “My Vette” was out there and when I found it with all the options I wanted and none of the ones I didn't the time would be right and the planets would align and she'd be mine. A little over dramatic I know but it is my first Vette right?

So here's what I was looking for:

2005 or 2006 Coupe with a color matched top in Victory Red with red interior and since it's easier to list the options I didn't want I didn't want magnetic ride control or the glass top.

So my search begins and I found plenty of Vettes that almost matched my dream car. I'd found a few that matched everything but the year on several occasions, but I had to have the LS2 in the '05 or '06. I plan on doing a lot of road trips and extended highway distance in my new baby and the spectacular fuel economy in such a BadA$$ car is what I wanted.

I'll cut to the chase. I found my car on a Thursday night and the dealership was closed for the day as well was my credit union. I was at the bank first thing Friday morning and got per-qualified for the loan before the dealership opened. I left the bank to go grab a quick breakfast and called the dealership when they opened. Asked a few questions about the car and confirmed the information in the car fax since the car was two states away. After abut five minutes of questions and I finally ask if the asking price is the guys bottom dollar. The asking price was more than fair and a good deal but I had to ask since I hate paying sticker or the window price. He punches some numbers and I can hear the adding machine going and the final price is $1100 below the window price. I immediately told the man the car was sold and I'd be there as soon as I could get a flight and he agreed to pick me up at the airport when I flew in to the nearest airport.

I head back to the bank and call my insurance agent on the way to line that out. I walked out of the bank with my check in hand and insurance on the car before noon that Friday. Now I've got to get a flight and there's no chance that day so after a few more phone calls and some changes in plans I get a flight the next day to the next closest airport where instead of being an hour and a half from the new baby when I land I'll be three and a half hours away. So I enlist my friend to fly out with me the next day and we get on the first plane a little before 5 a.m. on Saturday. We land in our destination city just after 10:30 after a short lay over to get our connecting flight and head for the rental car place. Just over 3 hours in a rental car and...

I pull into the dealership and see Anna for the first time. She's everything I had hoped for and one of the nicest '06s I have seen. A little paperwork, give the man the check, and a few handshakes and pictures later I'm on the road for the first leg of my 865 mile road trip home and en route back to the nearest airport so my friend can drop off the rental car.. 8 hours later just before 10 p.m. we get about half way home and check into a hotel room for the night. Got up early the next day after having dinner and drinks with friends the night before and head for the house. Lunch along the way with some other friends and I finally pull in to the driveway around 4 in the afternoon on Sunday with enough time to get a nap before I have to be back to work at 10 p.m.

Best 36 hour road trip of my life!

Here's the link to the photos in my forum garage until I can get to transfering photos over from the camera. Have been updating the interior a little this past month.

Thanks everyone.
