Intro - Z064Play
I'm new to the forum due to a recent purchase from 2V4NOW http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...o6-1lz-tx.html .
While I'm new to this forum I've been surfing many and am a long standing member of LXForums, I'll explain why later. And while it has been a long time (20 years) this is not my first Corvette. Previous years/models were 1974 "Split Tail", 1978 L-88, 1985 4+3 and a 92 Base Coupe. I moved away from the corvettes to venture into imports for a short period and then on to off-road adventures.
Lately I've found myself moving back towards modern muscle cars starting in 06 with a 300 SRT8. Then the modding bug hit and along came a Magnum SRT8. If so inclined you can see these at LXForums, look up Hemi Family and some of my track/mod threads. I soon found myself looking for a more capable car...hence the Z06.
This time around I figured rather than starting with a virgin car I'd find a nicely modded car so I wouldn't have to layout the cash for all the new goodies. By no means does this mean the modding is over...I just entered this car into the Nevada Silver State Classic open road challenge. But before I can get started on new mods I have to first get the car past the Peoples Republic of California SMOG inspections.
Last night another forum member posted FS the items needed to make this happen. By coincidence he lives less than 5 miles away, so we met this morning and I picked up a complete exhaust less mufflers including manifolds and a factory air box. This should get me past the visual inspection. Once certified I'll slap the headers, catless X pipe and CAI back on and head for the tuner (current plan is to use Rick at Synergy, I'm open to suggestions if you know a good tuner in NorCal) for an E85 tune. Next will be Corbeau A4 seats, Sharkbar and 6 point harnesses for the open road challenges. I also enjoy HPDE days so I already have wheels, racing slicks, racing pads, rotors and high temp fluid in the works.
I'll save some details for later as this story will continue in the days to come.
