1st Vette, and Luvin It!!
Just bought my 1st Corvette,
it's a 2000 C5, Silver Convertible!! I've been waiting just about my whole life for this day!! What a ride the last 2 weeks have been! One thing for certain, it took me all of 2 days to learn a whole new respect for this car and this Engine!! Living in SoCal, with a Vette Vert....... Life is GOOD!!!BTW, I'm Scott!!!!
I've been lurking in the shadows for the past 2 weeks, and have to say, THANK YOU! For all the info and support my fellow Vette Heads provide!!
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND EVERYONE!! GIVE A VET A RIDE TODAY IN YOUR VETTE!!!
Thank you again for the kind words and the help here!! Have a great Memorial Day Weekend Everyone!

Just curious though... I have pics of my car I somehow managed to get into "my garage". When I went to the thread I couldn't see my pics, as well, I didn't see anyway to do this. I am on an iPad so not sure if I need to log in on a CPU to do this or not.... Also under everyone's name I see a pic, mostly of their car or icon, but for me I do not see my car unless I actually click my name?!! Maybe because I'm a junior or new member? Just curious??

Edit** ok, I did just see the icon to add a profile pic, I can do it on the iPad, but, my pics are all too big, will cut a couple down to size and add ASAP!! Also in my "posting rules" it says I can not post an attachment,,,, is this why I can't add pic to silver thread??

I want to get my first vet and am thinking C5 is the way to go. Any suggestions for things to look out for from anyone would be appreciated and helpful. I have been reading a lot. Just dont want to make a mistake.....
Also, noticed the SEC reference in this thread. I have to "War Eagle" to all!
Congrats again!

As stated I am a new owner, so honestly, probably not the right person in the forum to answer this question.
I can tell you what I did in my search, but, if I were you.... Maybe start your own "newbie" thread introducing yourself to the forum. From there, there are tons of Vette Heads ( my terminology
) that would be better qualified to answer this question than I. I've seen Chevy engineers, and multiple Corvette owners come to the rescue on many occasions when in need of answers! After all that's really why we are all here... To share info, knowledge, passion, and love for this vehicle! So.... What I did; I fortunately have a Corvette Specialty Shop here in SoCal, not too far from my home. They charge $175 for a complete review of the car in question. So I just used normal common sense, pulled Car Fax, looked for oil, pulled past codes, etc... When I found the car I liked, and it passed these tests, I scheduled it to be gone through by Corvette Specialties of California. They throw it on the rack, and go through almost everything on the mechanical side of the car. When I went in for the results, the owner was also present, so the shop was able to go through the results with both sides. I like this especially when dealing with people that don't want to believe there is something wrong with their car. Fortunately nothing much was found with my car. I researched prices here in California, and made my offer. Since the owner was present at the inspection, it was very hard for him to turn down my offer!

So... That's about it... Find a reputable shop, preferably one that specializes in Corvettes or muscle cars, pay them a few bucks ahead of time, and there will be NO regrets later. Just my opinion though!!!
Again, I'd get more info from other owners here with more experience than I!!!
Good Luck, hope to see pics of that Bad *** as soon as you get her!!!

PS... I can live with the war eagle, lol... Usually they are Bama Haters, as I am a pure bread, 110% Coon ***, that bleeds PURPLE & GOLD!!! Go TIGERS!!! lol, L S U !
yea, you know..... THE SEC 2013 BASEBALL CHAMPIONS!!!
Taking my time; reading a lot. Talking to a lot of people.
We have a company here in town that checks out used cars and I have had them recommended by a couple guys to pre check out a Vette. Definitely going to do that. Its fun to try and narrow the search down to THE Vette. I am getting there. C5; coupe for me. Don't know what color it will be yet. Or if I will buy from an individual or a dealer. I just dont want to buy a "project".
I really do appreciate your feedback. And yea, LSU is my second favorite kind of Tiger. And I guess we feel about the same about that other school in Alabama.
Thanks!
Congratulations! Your enthusiasm is AMAZING! We all loved that feeling of getting behind the wheel for the first time or really getting on the gas the first time. Reading your posts made me remember those moments! Thank you!

I'm 42, and swore through my 30th that I WOULD own a Corvette by my 40th... Well it didn't work out that way...(took to almost 43!!). But on a totally different note, my 2000 Silver Beauty only cost me $2500, 3 Months time, and a couple of REALLY REALLY good stock investments!! So HELL YEA IM VERY ENTHUSIASTIC!!

From day 1 I realized I was part of a special club. Every Corvette that passes by, regardless of what year, always gives a nod!! I feel like I have a whole new set of "Brothers" all across the US----> and beyond!!

Can't wait to start making forum events to actually get to start meeting some of you Corvette Studs!! My wife and I are planning to join a local Corvette club, so I'm sure that will bring in a whole new set of friends!!
Can 1 car do all this!!! HELL YEA, IT'S A CORVETTE!!

Glad I could give you a trip back down memory lane, I'm sure I will remember my first 2 weeks in my Vette for quite some time!!
OH, worth a mention.... The week I picked up my car, California Dept. of Education was doing a fundraiser at California Motor Speedway, home of NASCAR Auto Club 400!! Yep, you guessed it, $10 donation, and I could get out there with my 6 yr old son and take the new Corvette for 3 laps around the track (behind a pace car) but none the less, I fell back a few times on the back straight, enabling me to get up to 108!!

I know that's not crazy fast... But the whole experience my first week, I can't believe I actually was able to sleep!

BEST $10 I EVER SPENT!!
Thanks again guys for all the well wishes! And everything you all contribute here!
