Hi everyone. Just figured I would sign up and reap the benefits of the vast knowledge available on a Corvette specific website.
I bought a 1968 convertible 4spd small block car from a co-worker/friend who has owned the car since `77ish IIRC.
Anyway, I had tried to encourage him to get the thing going again because it had been sitting in his garage since `82 or so. Well after a few years of nagging n haggling, I ended up with the car myself..(hence my user name).
The car was modified with fender flares right before my friend purchased it, and I think they were done by Ecklers, (his friend worked for Ecklers). The car also came with a early 70`s GM performance parts engine (350/forged crank and pistons,292 heads).
I have purchased many new parts to make the car road worthy again and after just having new springs delivered, I started doubting if these springs were the right choice (Gymkhana front/rear from ecklers).
I thought I had better join the forum and start asking questions FIRST to gain some insight on what might be best for me.
Anyhow, that is how I came to signing up here.
also have new 400 CI short block purchased to replace the tired (and must have been very hi compression)350.
Thanks for the welcome Bill. Nice Z06
When I get to working on this `68 I often think maybe I should have just made payments on a 5-6 year old Z06...another guy at my work has one `07 or `08 that is blue in color and man do it look nice!
It`s not like the payments would be that bad, but I still have kids in school and other hobbies.
This `old jewel`(hehe) I am currently working on only set me back $2500 INITIALLY.
Figure I have another 5k in parts purchased..so far.
