Traded the Cessna
We traded our classic Cessna for this incredible car in August. Airplanes are hard to sell, particularly the classics, a niche market. We received an offer to trade, and thought that the car would have a larger buyer audience than our Cessna. Besides, it sounded like fun in the meantime; we like fun. No weather briefing required to demonstrate it, and it’s cheaper to park! (Though the insurance went up $15 a month to $55.)
Driving it for the last 10 weeks has been such a pleasure, surpassing even my high expectations, that I’ve decided to keep it!
I’m a professional photographer, I’ve shot Lamborghinis, etc, ridden in a few; they’re obviously awesome, slightly more impractical, but not significantly ‘better’, and they are very expensive to maintain.
The car is an amazing machine, both mechanically and aerodynamically; very little cockpit wind or noise. The performance (way too powerful) is only surpassed by its beauty! Never thought I’d own one, but I can definitely recommend a 2008 if you’re considering one.
Chevy only made 655 Jetstream Blue convertibles in 2008; fewer with the Cashmere interior; the LS3 engine debuted in 2008. Hopefully it will become a classic for the grandkids! We’re enjoying their inheritance for now.
I’ve learned how to break, and how to fix the glove box latch (replaced cashmere with a hopefully stronger black latch-thanks for that forum advice); I’ve learned what silicone grease is, how to properly wash a car, the importance of actually reading the owner’s manual…and most importantly, to respect the car’s extreme capability.
Best wishes to all.
