Hello

I have been lurking, unregistered for a while. But it is time to stick my head above the paraphet.

I have recently returned to American car ownership here in England.
No stranger to US metal over the years, though there had been a (subconscious ?) blue oval leaning.

Some of our previous cars

We used to do wedding car hire

GM (or GM powered) have been
Soprano spec Suburban and a Winnebago Warrior RV (not a pretty thing)

We also have a 27ft Fleetwood Tioga for race meetings

Our latest car is a 79 Corvette, the idea came about after a few beers with some of our road racing friends in a wet and windy race paddock one weekend in October.
It began with a conversation that they wanted to hire a classic car and tour America next year, this something we briefly looked into several years ago and dismissed as too expensive and restrictive, as would be finding, buying, insuring (with no US residence) then touring. The above not impossible, but not straight forward by any stretch.
We then threw the idea around of buying a car each and touring Northern Europe.
The next day with both parties sobered up, the idea still had potential and we each began our search. I specifically wanted a 78/79 and after dismissing several, found a likely candidate.
Arizona import in 2005 and some nice upgrades

Our friend has since sourced his 80, so we have plenty of time to go through the cars in readiness for our trip.

regards
Gareth

Hello my name is chris, I have been working on corvettes for the past22 years 10 for a well known restoration shop and 12 on my own @ Benchmark in Lindenhurst NY. We have been involved with all types of work from award winning restorations to resto-mods that use the latest technology. We are always looking to be involved with new and challenging prodjects and learn about new tech. Now getting involved in late model performance.
