Hey guys, I just picked up my first Corvette last weekend and just joined the forum for as much tech help as I can get. I come from the Mustang world and have never owned a Chevy. The Vette I picked up is a 78 Stingray that I know very little about other than it ran until 2 years ago. It's got a 350 in it that was supposedly rebuilt a year ago and never fired up (looks a bit questionable), a missing tranny, minor body needs, major paint needs, and a few buckets of random parts and pieces. It's definitely a basket case in need of an overhaul, but I've got high hopes for it. I've started with worse.
I am the exact opposite, I am a GM guy and I ventured out and have been experimenting with my 1970 428 CJ Mustang for the past 6 years. Nice car, but it will never be a Corvette.
I have had owned a few C3s, but only have a 1972 left.
Congrats on the C3, I am betting you will love it more than the Mustangs once you get it "finished"

Thanks a lot for the welcome guys. I've currently got an 08 Shelby GT that puts out about 600 HP. I've dumped a lot of money into it since buying it new (blower, built motor, coil over suspension, etc). My last Mustang was a 66 A-code fastback that I completely rebuilt. I replaced every nut and bolt on that car, added rack and pinion steering, 4 way SSBC brakes, 331 stroker, custom leather interior, Currie 9" rear end, paint, etc. It was a beautiful car, but still didn't handle the way I wanted it to. I'd post pics, but it doesn't look like I'm allowed to do that yet for some reason.

Very cool.
I like newer Mustangs, but I would take the '66 anyday. My 1970 is a 428 CJ R code coupe. It is more rare than a sports roof, but nothing is numbers matching so I am not restoring it to be correct. It is a former drag car with an 871 blower, C6, and was chopped up and cut up. After 6 or 7 long years into a long restoration and I still have all of my suspension, 428, electrical, interior, and the Tremec TKO600, etc. to install and or rebuild.
These are a few older pictures of the car. I haven't touched the 70 in about 1.5 years as I have just been busy and then after the wreck in my 72 I have put the 70 on the far far far back burner.

Wow that thing is beautiful. I love the color especially. Looks like a hell of a lot of work for sure. Good luck with it!
This is what my 66 ended up looking like:

kahmann,
Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first 'Vette! How does it feel to own one?
