Default Looking for my old 'Vette

Hi everyone,

I bought a 1972 Corvette new, VIN 1237K25517185. I sold it in 1975, when I was sent to Korea (mistake!). I am wondering if anyone would have any ideas on how to find it. It would be great to find it, and if possible re-buy it.

Any help in this endeavor would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

John

What color was it? What were the specs? I have a '72, I highly doubt it was yours but who knows.

It was Ontario Orange. 350/270 engine, four speed manual. coupe/T-tops. VIN 1237K25517185

I was a Cadet at the US Air Force Academy when I bought it, and drove it my senior year there, through pilot training, marriage (honeymoon in it), and then through F-4 training. Then, I was assigned to Korea, unaccompanied. So, I sold it so I could afford to take my wife with me to Korea. Seemed like a good idea at the time....

I just found an old registration with the VIN, so finding it is now suddenly possible. I sold it 39 years ago. It would be good to at least know where it is; a friend of mine's was stolen and found in a river. Hopefully mine has fared better!

Anyway, lots of memories in the car....

Thanks in advance for any help you or anyone can give me finding out about this car.

Ontario Orange is the color to have!

My car sounds just like your old one. My last 4 digits end in 9173. So not the same car (at least vin tags at least ) but sounds just like mine. Mine has all of the documents, tank sticker, POP, etc. I would have to dig it out to verify your name wasn't on it. I know the likeliness that the vins were changed is very very low…but just so I know that I have helped as much as I can…..

By the way, F4's are awesome. I would trade my C172 in for one. Every time I taxi out of TYR to runway 22 I pass an F4.

Sure hope you find your car, I am looking for my dad's old 1960…it was on Vette Magazine in Oct. 2001. I haven't had much luck.

Best of luck John,

Brandon

Brandon, highly unlikely you have the one I had. And I'm thinking I may never find it. But it would be cool if I did!
