Default New Vette Owner

Hello all, I recently bought my first vette. 1975 L48 convertible four speed. Previous owner took good care of it, but needs a few things taken care of. Tachometer, battery gauge, and clock do not work. Already finding great info on this forum to help me troubleshoot these things. Have owned some other old cars in the past and pretty handy so I should be taking care of these issues soon. Looking forward to being a part of the community, and hoping for a little help along the way.

Thanks, John

Welcome to the club!

If you haven't picked up any reference books yet, I suggest taking a look here for some recommended books. They'll really help you with some of the things you need to fix.

The Tach and Battery gauges aren't too hard to fix, I think, based on what I've read around here. The clock: no body's works. From what I've gathered, they didn't last more than few years from the factory; just not well made. You can buy a quartz conversion and install it yourself for something more reliable, or send it off to have the conversion installed, or just a buy a clock already set up with the quartz mechanism. Options.

Thanks Kris, I have just received the manuals from Ecklers. I ordered all of them. I don't expect to really dig into any work until late fall when I put it away. Too busy driving and having fun with it. I guess buy the things I have read lately that I will need to pretty much drop the steering column to get at and trouble shoot the tach. Looking forward to tinkering though, I enjoy that part almost as much as driving it.
