Just a quick intro from a lifelong Vette fan - but never an owner...
Been dipping into the site on and off for many years, but I have returned as, at long last, I have started my search for a car. I will be looking for a C2, but as I refine my requirements in the months ahead, I look forward to getting involved in the forums and reading some of the invaluable advice from the many very knowledgeable members.
Nearly forogt to say where "over here" is.....it's the Isle of Man - a small island between Ireland and the UK. Not many Vettes here (only one C6 to my knowledge), but with no speed limits and beautiful scenery, it's a drivers paradise.
Ah you lucky dog you. I'd love to go let my baby stretch her legs over there Good luck on your search and be sure to share pictures when you find the right car for you
Welcome to the forum, post some pics of your island so we can dream about driving on it!
No problem....! The island is well known to the bike racing fraternity as it holds an annual road racing event that attracts riders and vistors from around the world - "The TT". Top speeds recorded of 200mph. I think it would suit a Corvette perfectly....albeit on sunny days only!
Thanks to all for words of welcome.
PS - Picture of a Subaru? Recently Mark Higgins set a new TT lap record in a production car of 115mph for the 37 mile course. Bearing in mind much of the course goes through towns and round twisty roads, quite an achievement. By way of comparison, the TT bike record is 131mph. Recommend the film "Close to the Edge" if you want to learn more...
If you haven't driven a midyear, you might want to before buying one. After all, they are 50 years old and dont drive like modern cars. These corvettes are old and most have issues and sellers use misleading words, so do your home work and have the car inspected by an expert before you buy. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I'll certainly do my research and I will be patient!
