Default Hello from Minnesota

Hello, My name is Mike and just stopped by here to introduce myself.

Not a Corvette owner yet, but hoping to be very soon.

Just got done unloading a bunch of cars, went from struggling to find room(with 6 stalls) to having 2 virtually empty buildings. So I'm sure one of those spots would be happy to house a nice shiny Z06.

Looking to acquire a nice C5 or C6 Z06, really kind of torn between the two. Both are such fantastic cars. Primary use would be for track purposes both Open Track and AutoX.

Look forward to contributing where I can, and hopefully reporting back soon with some pics of the new ride.

Thanks Kalvin, I'm tempted by both but the C5 seems the better value but then again that LS7 is hard to resist.

I would say so as the C5 Z06 can be bought for around $20K while the C6 Z06 can be bought for around $40K. If you wanted to build one to meet your needs for racing…the C5 would (IMO) yield a great base to build up, and leave you with a nice budget to work with. I must say that I miss my 2001, but I drove a buddies 2006 Z06 with heads, cam, tune, exhaust, headers, etc. and it was just above and beyond awesome. So the LS7 is a monster, costs more, is newer and pretty sweet. The C5 is older, more affordable and just as equally and cool. The decision is hard, but I would do this if it were me.

I would buy the C6 Z06 if I had the budget to get it, build, and race it. But if I only had the budget to buy a C5 and build the C5 and race it, I would choose the C5 for financial purposes. Just my two cents.

From one Minnesoooooootan to another - welcome to the forum. What part of the state are you from?
Good luck with your search. Time to start filling the stalls again.

The logical side of me is choosing the C5, with the savings(vs a C6) I could buy some nice mods, an aluminum race trailer and a few sets of tires and probably still be into less than a C6 Z06.

However I WANT a C6Z, and wants are a bitch and sometimes cost alot of money.

Right now I'm just waiting to see what pops up, if I find a good buy(on either) I'm going to buy it. So it's down more to timing and what is available.

I'm sure I'll be more than happy with either.

Thanks Guappy and 2010BlueGS.

davidf59, thanks, I'm from North of the Metro. Work in Forest lake and live up between Stacy and North Branch.

I've never had so many spots available, it's kind of weird. I'm trying to be strong but I'm sure I'll just fill them all up again and be back to complaining about garage space by next summer.
