Ahhh... Its about time.
I went to auto shows when I was little, sitting in a C5 from time to time and being too small to even see over the steering wheel. I visited the Corvette museum, as well as took a tour of the Bowling Green assembly plant where I grew jealous of one of the kids that was picked to start up a C5 for the first time. While there, I grabbed two corvette key chains that have adorned my key ring ever since. That year I also found a 97 Hallmark Corvette ornament that has been placed in a prominent location on my Christmas tree every year since.
When any friend of mine that would mention a disdain for Corvettes spoke up, I would quickly spout off the numbers in relation to the price and they really had nothing left to say. I stood by my belief that the Corvette was the ideal sports car for value/performance.
6 jobs, high school, college, and 4 moves later, I decided it was time. After browsing the corvette forums for year, I knew exactly what I wanted. I found it a couple weeks later in the Georgia Mountains.
This corvette was mine, finally. A great sense of relief. Every time I walk up to the car, it’s the same rush of emotion. Every. Single. Time.
I don’t care that it’s not the fastest car, a scratchless car, or even a comfortable car by some people’s standards. This is MY car. It’s MY dream. MY machine.
(Another Black C5 found me at the Braselton Car show
)
Thank you all on the Corvette forum for sharing the same dreams, the same passions, and the same love for America’s sports car. It’s nice to be home.
