My name is Rob, and after wanting a Corvette for almost 40 years, I am finally purchasing a 2009 C6 Z51 the end of this week. I can't wait to go for my first long drive in it.
Thanks all. It was definitely hard to fall asleep last night. I can't wait until Friday.
I can remember getting my first Vette. I lived in Hilo, Hawaii, and the '72 was stored in Madison, Wisconsin. I flew with my dad and younger sister to go get it. I flew from the Big Island to Oahu (Honolulu) to Los Angeles, California, Dallas, Texas, and then finally up to Madison, Wisconsin. My family is full of pilots, and myself being one of them. Went up there and looked at it, got a few people to prep it for a cross country road trip to the East Coast and then back to Hawaii. My dad is a Captain for American, and went to go fly on a trip and I returned back to Dallas with family. Anyways I was on a train in Dallas and ate a sandwich that was bad, and got food poisoning. I hadn't thrown up in a decade, and the entire week I was in Dallas waiting t go on my road trip to get my '72, I was sick and miserable. I didn't quit throwing up until about a few hours before my flight back to Madison. Another long story short, barely made that flight up there (bad weather, and other delays) and I got there ready to meet my dad who was coming in from JFK. More storms hit, and his flight was cancelled. So I was 15, all alone in an airport all day with nothing to do. The last flight comes and goes, and the janitors start prepping to close the terminals and they find me just sitting there. Well, after all that had happened, I had a similar scene from like one of the Home Alone Videos, where I went to a hotel and everything. It was pretty interesting. It was actually rather quite fun as once I got there, I met up with some of the other girls my age and hung out and went to dinner. Later the next day, my dad finally made it in, and we picked up the '72 from the barn. I had no drivers license, and had no real driving experience like what I was about to embark on. I then spent the next week going across the country, and enduring the different challenges that popped up. To this day, I still remember that trip very well, for obvious reasons!
The moral of the story is, take a lot of pictures, and have as much fun as possible. You only get to get your first Corvette once, so make the best of it!

Awesome story. Luckily I live about 8 miles from the guy selling it, so I don't think I'll have anything quite as wild as that to tell.
Welcome to the forum. Picked up my 03 new from the dealer in December of that year and drove it on to a trailer and brought it home for storage. We ran into heavy snow on the way home, the car was covered in snow, salt, sand and ice. Broke my heart. Managed to bucket wash it a couple of weeks later. The first meeting is always interesting.
