New bee - w/'78
After more than 50 cars owned over the past 35 or so years, I own my first vette. I've always liked the C3 lines. Already gaining valuable info from the site. Thanks!
Did some searching to see if there is a club in Ellis County (Waxahachie, Texas) but only come up with old posts and can't seem to locate the member that originally was attempting to get some traction. Suggestions welcomed. I'd like have some insight to what is going on in the area - oh, and did I mention I'm new to the area too?
Thanks in advance!
Kelly

Thanks for the direction. I'll reach out.

The '78 is really pretty much a daily driver quality - interior in really good shape though. The front nose and rear [rubber] need some attention. I'd like to have them both replaced and match the midnight black paint. I don't intend, at least at this point, to make it bottomless pit of cash...
Any suggestions or know any paint and body folks in the east Texas area that could help my plight?
Thanks for the welcome!

That is funny, I graduated from TJC myself. I graduated from UT Tyler too last year. I am pretty familiar with the area, not only do I drive a lot but I also am a pilot and I fly around East Texas regularly.
I also bought a barn find '75 out of Athens 2 years ago, so pretty cool to meet someone who knows the area.
As far as paint and body work goes, while I can do it, I take my Vettes to JB's Corvette Specialty in Frisco, Texas. They've
been in business for over 30 years and tend to only work on Vettes, however they are pretty awesome and will do other types of cars. First met them over 15 years ago to paint a '60 Corvette. Last year they painted my '72 Corvette.
Before it was painted. (The coves are in correct)

After:

It was also a Vette Magazine cover car back in 2001. That is my dad doing 120 around Texas Motor Speedway

My '72:
Before I moved to Tyler, Texas I was living in Hilo, Hawaii. I grew up in Texas and Hawaii.

Here my '72 is in for alignment, starter, and shifter work. I was enrolled in TJC's automotive program.

Sorry for so many pictures
...just figured I would show you some work. If they can turn a wrecked C3 back into a show piece, and the paint and body and everything they did to fix it ( a lot..) it cost around $10K to fix. Yes that is a fortune, but the actual paint and body work was only $4,000. Which I have to say, out of all of my paint jobs, either cheaper in price or quality, this is the best paint job. They even did more than I asked for and wasn't charged. Then they can do a simple bumper replacement and paint job. They rock!If not, there is a guy that painted my 1970 Mustang, ( I did 75%+ of body work) and did a great job. It was a buddy deal and it only cost me $3,000, which was only supplies and cost of paint. This was a great paint job, which was painted in 2010/2011. Compared to my '72's recent paint job, hands down JB's out painted a guy who's been painting cars since 1960. His name is Manuel Espinoza, he's in his '70's, but he mainly does classics.
