Hi from Charlotte
I've wanted a vette for about 60 years now (I'm 60) and am finally to a point where I can justify. I'm an electrical engineer but I started out as a mechanic in a dealership. I've raced some on road courses and ovals in a Formula Ford and a Legends car. My daily driver been a Miata for the last 8 years. I've had several underpowered sports cars; a A-H Sprite, MG Midget, Porsche 914. The only street car I ever had with good acceleration was my 1966 SS396 Chevelle, oh how I miss that car.
I'll probably keep the Miata and keep driving it some but it has 170,000 on it so I really need something newer. I was originally wanting a convertible vette but have decided it not required. Even though I tend to keep things a long time I have the idea that I'd like to start out with a C5, drive it for a year or so and then get a C6 for a year or two and finally a C7 will hopefully be affordable, to see how they have progressed over the years.
So, I've found a 2003 z06, link below if it will work. The guy is asking $30K, it 19,700 mi on it, manual, blue, black interior, new Firestone Firehawk tires, I haven't seen it yet but am going to try to this weekend. Edmunds' appraisal website says it is only worth $21,500 retail, seems low from what I've seen but the guy seem to have several 'stories' to tell about how great the car is, but the price seems negotiable. Anybody have an opinion on what a fair price would be? Is there somewhere else I should be posting this?
Also wondering what other thought of my idea of going through the C5, C6 and then C7 ownership path? I'd like to use the vette as my primary daily driver. I'll also probably take it to some road courses for track days.
Thanks,
John

The car you posted certainly appears clean and well cared for -- though it's a little pricey.

Best of luck with the search, and it looks pretty nice. Miss my C5.
