C7 blown engine
I think that I may need some advice or help. I have had my 2014 C7 about 10 months and have driven it only 3,800 miles. Last week I brought it to the dealer for an oil due to time not miles. The next day the engine seized up and was towed back to the dealer. GM wanted all of the electronic data to evaluate before they would allow any work to begin. They have now approved an engine tear down to look at the damage before they will make any commitment on a replacement or repair. I have heard about oil filter and rod bearing issues but don't know what GM actually did to fix the problem.I don't want the dealer to fix the engine but I also don't know what I will lose with a new non numbers matching engine.
What should I push for and who should I talk to to get it fixed right?
I think most buyers, other than collectors, are more interested in condition than matching numbers so unless you plan on keeping your vette for 30yrs. I would go for a new motor. Just my opinion.
I have called GM Customer Service (1-800-222-1020) a couple times and they have been very helpful.
