Default Body Control Module

I have a 2005 Corvette with 51,000 miles. I drive it daily and service it religiously. I purchased it new 10 years ago. On and off throughout the years I receive the message "Service Active Traction System" followed by "Service Active Handling System". I noticed nothing different about the cars performance. As I drove the messages continued to display. "Service ABS System" was added and also "Shocks Inoperative". "Low Fuel" was displayed and the gauge pointed to Empty (it was not). I restart the car and all messages are gone. Sometimes the check engine light stays on. It happens on and off every few months. I would stop and restart the car and all was well and good. I've taken it to the Chevy dealership and they are stumped. It is happening more often now and restarting it doesn't always help. I first thought that something was wrong with the car that was putting it into "limp home" mode. I then realized that the car was starting in 3rd (probably) and never changing.

What action is suggested to fix? HELP!! They dealership want to charge me $1000+++ to change the Body Control Module. Does this fix the problem? I only have 52,000 miles on my baby but this has been going on for the last few years. In and out of the dealership about once a year. They have never said I needed a new BCM but they did go through all the wires and also at one point changed the Brake Module. They just called me today after having the car for 5 weeks. I'm not sure they are not just saying I need a new BCM because they cant figure out what's wrong with it and I'm a woman. Are they just trying to get some money out of me?
Any one that have had the same problem and had it fixed?

Thanks so much
