So I buy a mint condition Torch Red 2007 C6 coupe with 20,000 miles. Stick shift car. It's a blast. Two weeks into owning this car I'm @ a Wendy's drive up window. The 19 year old girl looks at the car and asks in awe 'Is that a Ferrari?'
'It's a Ferrari SS' I reply.
My first Corvette. I'm 57. I wanted this car for 40 years. Most fun car I ever drove. it's too fast. Way too fast. Oh well. I'll die happy.
Oh man that is a twisted lookin sled right there. I wonder what mods you'd have to do to the suspension, etc. to handle 400 hp in a Miata? It boggles the mind.
But at the end you'd still have Miata, which is like driving a shoe without enough room, sound insulation, etc.
Having a blast driving the C6. It is SO much better than any sports car or sports sedan I ever drove before. Kind of makes me want to drive a Cayman S. I'm sure I'd like it, but I doubt I'd ever want to give up this small block V8. Best motor EVER.
The car is amazingly civilized and comfortable for such a ***** out sports coupe. Great creature comforts, ride quality, climate control, sound system. Love the short throw shifter. AND it's a convertible in a pinch. 3+ weeks of daily driving, loving the car more every day. It has its issues I suppose (like I know in the winter it will have to be in the garage with a battery tender on it or it will go dead) but I can put up with more than those minor inconveniences for a sports car as great as this one.
Loving the car even more after a month and half. Installed a bluetooth interface so I can stream music from the phone. Ordered an aftermarket steering wheel and some new floor mats.
I'll drive it for a year or two and then look to trade it against a lower mileage 2012 or 2013 torch red stick coupe with the right equipment. Oddly a lot of those seem to be Gran Sports, I don't want one of those for a couple of reasons. Love the plain jane stock coupe. The car screams and it's also very comfortable. Best looking car short of a Ferrari too.
C5's are great looking cars as well. Not crazy about C4s or the new C7s, but I like all the other Corvette designs.
I guess my 2007 is Victory Red, not Torch Red. I didn't realize that, I got Torch Red touch up paint, which works fine. So I'm not sure there's a real difference between those colors after all. But it IS the color for this car.
