I just joined Corvette Forum..im getting ready to buy my first Vette. It will be in the 15,000 dollar range or lower...i been shopping for about 6 months and have my eye on about 4 to 5 vettes on cars.com. im looking at the C5"s. there iis a grey one in VA. that i just keep looking at, but i dont think its a base Vette. Im hoping you can help me here on the forum...im posting the pic of the engine...I need all the help I can get and im gonna have to get it shipped to Cleveland cause there are none that i know of here in Cleveland for that price range...Thanks Rick...
Im looking to buy a C5 Vette within the next month...Would prefer to just travel Ohio to get it and not have it shipped. Kinda hard to buy a Vette that you can't see eye to eye. If I have to i will travel to get it in another state. I dont want to buy a piece of junk. Also looking for an automatic in red, yellow, blue, or black...Although I like pewter as well...Looking in the $15,000 or down price range...
Rick, that C5 has an aftermarket intake and what looks like fuel rails and injectors. I assume that you can buy a cover for it, but the previous owner didn't to show off the engine mods.

Thanx Brandon...just another quick question would you buy it?...they want $13,995 for it...i just seen another one on cars.com but the site is down...i will post when i see the other vette i like...will be buying now real soon...a C5...Again Thanx Brandon...
I had a yellow 2001 coupe, and loved it. I wish I still had it to be honest. I think you will enjoy the C5, so take your time and be picky. The C5's are in a buyer's market. Prices are all coming down and the market is flooded with C5's. So don't be afraid to walk away if something does not go as planned. Just wait for the next one.
With this said, this car from the pictures looks to be pretty nice. The price is nice, and the paint looks to be in good shape. The intake looks like a BBK intake I think, which is about an $800+ intake, the throttle body is like a $400, the cold air intake is probably like another $100+, the fuel rails and injectors also cost money. So that C5 has about $1,500-$2,000 in engine parts, plus the labor and ECU tune it took to reset it.
If you are going to mod your C5 once you get it, then I would say that this car is a good start as it already has roughly $2,000 of mods in the engine. It could have more done to it, but from those pictures it is hard to tell. If you want a stock C5, well...this one is not. You would be getting more power, less MPG's, and the motor and ECU tune would (should not) not be stock. If the interior is in good shape, the mileage isn't outrageous, and YOU like the car.....go for it. If the engine mods are an issue, just pass on this car.
Well..an official Vette owner now...my 2000 C5 came yesterday...still have all the legal things to do like title, safety check, plates, 30 day tag...etc..etc...but here are some pics of it when it arrived here yesterday...any help on Vette would be appreciated...there are some flaws with the car...some scratches, paint chips, horn not working, left turn signal light not flashing (but works out side) also appears to be leaking power steering fluid or maybe brake fluid...again any suggestions or help would be appreciated...Rick...
