Default 283 date code question

I recently purchased a 1964 el Camino and was told the 283 was from a corvette. Casting number is 3756519. 58-61 283. On the opposite tab is stamped
911 and under that is stamped
040. My guess for the 911 would be sept 1, 1961 but not sure. No idea on the 040. All letters and numbers seem larger than a normal stamp. Any help would be great. Thanks. Don.

Welcome and I would post in the C1-C2 section. Most C1's had 283's, so that will be the best place to find answers.

Best of luck! I have had 283's, but it has been a few years.
