Woo hooo
New here and this is my first post. Thought I would include a bit about me and my history here first.
Cars have been in my life since birth, I remember the racing trophies that my dad had accumulated while in high school, and he is still a car nut to this day! He has several, an original paint and interior 64 chevelle coupe, with a 327, a 68 RS/SS Camaro Convertible, that has had a ground up restoration, and an Buick Regal Limited, Turbo coupe. That car is Rarer than the much coveted GNX. And he is a past president of the Buick Turbo Collectors club
Vette's have been in my life always, My Dad's first was a '66 427/435, Convertible, Black on Black, Factory Side pipes. Oh, I know, it's one of the Holy Grail cars of corvettes. His second was a beautiful '71 Coupe. My little brother has also had a few.
Anyway, long story short, Now it's my turn as I'm looking for a C5, and am planning on tinkering a bit, as I possess the mechanical skills to handle almost anything, as well as the tool collection to support it, The ONLY think my garage lacks is a hydraulic lift, which I am considering. I've done engines, transmissions, rearends, bodywork, and paint on previous projects, so the knowledge base is there.
Looking for something that is drivable. Had originally set my sights on a 240-280Z, but the parts for those are almost unavailable, and I did a build sheet in excel it would cost me FAR more than what I can get a nice C5 vette for.
I'm leaning toward a C5 coupe, trans doesnt matter though I think stirring a stick would be ALOT more appropriate and FUN! Would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a nassau blue! but not alot of those. Anyway, The Hunt is on! and would love to have one to tinker with over the winter.
Thanks
Damon
