Default Hello All

Hello everyone,

My name is Ken and I live in the Allentown PA area (just south of the Poconos). I've been toying with the idea of buying a Vette for a long time (10 years) and I think I am ready to pull the trigger within the next 6 months. I really love the look of the C3 78-82 Vette's and am trying to learn as much as possible about the in's and out's of the beautiful machines. I am a little concerned with fitting in the seats as I am 6'5" ~300lbs. I've driven a 71 and it was tight, and my brother in law had a 90 ZR1 that I drove and fit in that fine. Hoping the late C3s fit me a little better than the 71 did. I'm new to the Vette market but am handy with working on my own cars/trucks. Anyway, great forum and look forward to chatting with you guys and gals.

-Ken (Boon)

Welcome to the forum Ken
Find some late model C3's to sit in to see how you fit. I've heard lotsa stories about big guys not fitting in Vettes.

Thanks again. Lot's of great info on these forums. I am taking a ride on Monday to go see a few C3 Vette's. I will have a much better idea/outlook once I sit/drive one or more of them.

Welcome! I have a '72, and 6'2" at 185 and I fit fine. I bet if you got a convertible, you would fit even better than a coupe. However, after '75 there were no factory convertibles. You can find them, custom, but you can find '76-82 convertibles.

Thanks for the info. I've seen a few custom convertibles and they look nice but not something I'm looking for. T-tops for me

Is your 72 a 4 speed or auto? Just wondering about how close the pedals are to each other.

Mine is a 4 speed manual, and it works out well for me. Just look for a C3 with tilt/telescopic wheel. Mine does not have that, and at times getting in and out can be a "challenge". So if you got a tilt/telescopic wheel, it would be even better.

Also a new South Texas member who joined site to gain resources about 2009 ZR1 with 32 miles I purchased from museum collection 2 weeks ago. Have not driven and will get serviced at dealer this week. Any tips would be greatly appreciated in hopes of taking care of my
new TMT8ION. Thanks Guys, Keith

So the results are in..... I do not fit lol. I sat in an 80 with the tel/tilt and my head was hitting the T-tops. Also, the width is an issue (maybe I'd lose 100lbs I would fit better ) Still not totally out of the hunt, as I could drive the vette with the tops off Might look for a convertible to try out in the future. Thanks for all the info above.

Yeah I figured, a convertible would be the best bet!
