Been working on cars since the mid 70's and recently purchased a C1 (1960) for my wife which I'm now the custodian of. I've already done a bunch of work and TLC to her new baby, she loves the car and I do as well. I also have two relatives with early Corvettes, one a 1962 and the other a 1963. Looking forward to the forum and all the Corvette enthusiasts here.
Thank you for the warm welcomes, here are a couple of photos, I need to take some time and get some better ones that show more of the car but this will have to suffice for now;
Thank you for the compliments, she's a 10 or 20 footer depending on ones eyesight and attention to detail (though my car buddies say she's a 5 footer so perhaps I'm being a bit too critical) but I was looking for solid bones and a good body and that she has. There is the usual checking of paint in places and some paint chipped in places that I will eventually take care of. Done plenty of body work since my youth and painted plenty of cars as well and even did polyester fiberglass construction years ago of small boats and canoes so I'll be doing it all myself.
The mechanical and safety related items are what I've been working on since taking possession of her and most of those have been taken care of leaving us a nice summer driver for this year. I do have some transmission gaskets to replace this winter due to weeping and leaking but the transmission functions like new. Rear differential is a posi BUT the clutches must be shot, so I'll deal with that this winter as well. Then perhaps I'll begin re-doing the body and getting her prepared for a fresh coat of paint. I've been spending a lot of time reading through many of the threads in the C1 and C2 section, working on getting from the beginning to the end over time and enjoying it very much.
