Dream Turns into Reality!
Hi All.
New member here, and now the new owner of a '69 Coupe! Numbers-matching small block. She's a beauty with a long-ish list of things that need looking into. Body, Frame and Engine are sound, paint job is fantastic. It was originally a 900 Tuxedo Black car, but sometime recently it was repainted in (what I think is) Bridgehampton Blue from the 1970 color palette. It's definitely not LeMans Blue from 1969, which I would NOT have liked. But this blue is deeper and little more "royal". Love it!
First order of business is the electrical system. Seems Mr. Alternator doesn't want to charge the battery too well. so, we had to limp her home from Ohio to Michigan by stopping every 15-20 miles to recharge the battery with our follower car. Mostly was a problem after dark and the lights would dim out.
Not sure if I need a new Alt, or the belt's loose, or I've got a cable problem. Anything to suspect with the Voltage Regulator? Its and external one, and I heard you can convert over to internal VRs pretty easily. Is that a good way to go if I need to upgrade my Alt anyway?
In any case, I've got my list that needs tackling now, but I mainly have achieved one of my lifelong dreams, to own a '69! Always was partial to 68-69 due to the shark gills look on the fenders. This one was not perfect, but met my requirements, and was within budget (at least so far!!) Looking forward to feedback and enjoying this forum!

Welcome to the forum from another Michigander!
Good looking '69, and yes to upgrading the voltage regulator if/when you do the alternator.

Thanks.
Just replaced the alternator with the exact Delco Remy unit. Which failed the store test and was only reading 12 v on my voltmeter with the battery connected.
They both apparently had internal voltage regulators. So how can I be sure its compatible with the cars existing VR which is still on the left fender?
It does seem to have improved the issue and i do get 14+ volts at the alt when running now.
Just don't want to screw up the system if the VR wasnt overridden prior.

Any input on what color it might be?
It's not Le Mans Blue from '69, for sure.
It looks more like Bridgehampton Blue from '70+ to me.
Like I said in the original post, it was built as a 900 Tuxedo Black, but was painted at some point in this blue.
Aren't there ways to analyze the color with a spectral analyzer (not the gizmo from Ghostbusters mind you) to determine the color code?
