Default Break in procedure???

my first ever corvette is on its way to me and will be in my hands early next week. 2017 grand sport 7spd

i couldnt be more excited than i am right now!!!

what type of driving would you guys recomend for the break in period??? The dealership told me it needs an oil change at 500miles but other than that i dont need to take it easy or anything, guy told me i can let her rip from day 1. Now that seamed like odd advice so i figured i'll ask some guys who know the car better.

should i keep revs down and put put around for the first 500-1000 miles or what???

Might as well ask who to vote for for president. Two schools of thought, easy break in and hard break in. I'm in the hard break in camp but used to be in the easy break in camp.

I won't go in to the easy break in.

Theory behind hard break in is that there is a small window when the cylinder wall is still rough to get the rings to break in. Competition engine builders seem to use this method as the engines are on the dyno or on the track at full power shortly after build. Do a google search on "motorman break-in". I've used this method on every car and motorcycle I bought in the last ten years including the '16 Z51. Every one turn out to be a good runner with zero oil consumption.

I am actually the OP... by mistake signed in with google at first, I will be using this profile from here on....

after reading a lot of the motoman stuff, its making a lot of sense and my 14' 5.0 which I broke in nice and easy ate oil like a son of a gun!

im gonna go with the motoman break in for my grand sport

so the car has 10 miles on it. im gonna drive it fairly hard for 10 miles, change the oil at 20 miles to a NON synthetic, then continue driving it hard in short bursts giving the motor plenty of chances to decelerate on its own until 500 miles, do another NON synthetic oil change, after 500 i would drive as the break in period is over and at 1500-2000 miles i will then change back to a synthetic for the remainder of the cars life in my hands.

am i missing anything? should i wait till i pass 50 miles before i start rippin on it? also, what NON synthetic oil would you guys recommend for the break in period?

I think I would just warm it up and do the Motoman break-in then change the oil and filter at 500 miles.

If you go to track mode one of the gauges option in the display is horsepower. I got it nice and warm, about 10 miles then did three pull in 2nd or 3rd 2000 - 3500 at about half throttle/230 hp with deceleration in gear in between. Repeat 2000 - 4500 350 hp the 3 pulls full throttle to redline. Changed oil and filter at 500 miles.

I didn't notice at first that this was in intros. Post it in the general C7 section and you will like be inundated.
