I like long walks on the beach and fast cars
Good evening ladies and gentlemen.
Sheetmetal worker/metal fabricator here. Dozens of cars have come and gone from my garage, the most recent arrival, my first Corvette. An 03 Z06, nearly stock but that will change as I plan to put as many miles on her at the track as I do on the street.
I was introduced to the Corvette world in my early teens helping my stepfather at the dragstrip as he raced his 1961. It was a backhalved bracket racer than ran low 10s and turned a lot of heads. Been in love with the long hood, short deck, two seaters since.
After spending a few years drag racing I side stepped and turned my attention to open lapping road courses and after a couple of years earned my competition license. I built my 3800 V6 powered RX7 to compete in NASA Performance Touring D, http://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=4555.0
Won quite a few trophies with it and was honored with the opportunity to race it in the American Endurance Racing Series with the fine folks from Road and Track magazine. Eventually we landed on the podium at my home track, Mid Ohio. Sam Smith had a few kind words for me and the car, http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cult...28/smithology/
That car is now for sale as I am once again working on my Howe TA2 chassis.
Which lead me on my quest for a Z06. I needed something to get my speed fix on the track with while the new car was being built. As of now, it runs, but there is so much left to do.
Which brings me to my first modification for my Z06. I have always loved the sound of 180 degree headers. The ones I built for the Howe chassis came out very well and from what I have seen, I think I can make a pair happen for my Z as well. If so, I'll be sure to post a build thread.
Thanks for this awesome forum. A huge wealth of information here!
