Hey all,
I've been lurking around in the classifieds for a while, but I've finally found a C6, so I figured I would formally introduce myself. Thanks to forum member Maites for selling me his beautiful 3LT M6 LMB coupe. I come from a long line of Miatas, so this is quite the change of pace for me.
I'm waiting for James Madison University's winter break to kick in before I start tearing into the car, but here's the list of things I hope to accomplish over those few weeks. DIYs on the mechanical things would be really helpful, if anyone has them.
I've heard that the balancer is a nightmare that requires the engine to be lifted; I've also heard that the steering rack can be dropped to make it a two hour job. Any insight on which is more accurate? Also, can anyone make recommendations on a quality aftermarket balancer, or should I stick with GM? I'd rather not buy the same defective part if there's a better version out there.
Also, if I get the codes for the ride control, can someone tell me what the issue is? Maites said that the problem popped up after replacing the F55 shocks with a used set, and that the issue seemed to be the driver's side rear shock. I don't want to jump to replacing a $600 shock if it's just a connection issue.
Anyway, I've been looking for a vette for a while now, and it's nice to finally be a part of the club. Now I just have to hope some drunk bastard doesn't puke on it in the parking lot

Welcome to the forum, but it would be best if you post up your questions in the C6 Tech section where you will get more responses.
