Default Imports to... Corvette

I've been scouring the depths of the internet for a fun car to drive and I'm pretty set on a 2008+ c6 as my next daily driver! I have had a handful of fun cars in the past (S2000, WRX, Lancer Evolution, Miata...), but this car makes sense. Four-hundred horsepower out of the box and good gas mileage; I don't know why it took me so long to put this on my list of cars to own.

Though, I have a bit of a dilemma. The vette I found that I want is in Texas and I'll need to figure out the logistics of financing and shipping it to Florida. If it was a cash deal, it would probably be a bit easier with escrow. Has anyone had experience with this?

You will get a lot of welcome aboard's here and perhaps some advice. Here is mine: post your question in the C1 & C2 section. Its an older crowd so you will get a better response IMHO. When I bought my corvette, I hired a private shipper and I had my banker call his to transfer the money after the car was inspected again and on the trailer.

Welcome to the forum!

As mentioned earlier, try posting your questions in the C6 General area or look there for other topics similar to yours by using the "search" feature.

Only recommend the C6 area, as that is the model you stated you are getting.

More exposure there, and opportunities for responses.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with rkj. Why not just go get it and drive it back?

Old_Ben - I am considering that, however right now I'm living in the Caribbean and flights to the airport nearest to the seller are around $600 round trip, just in case things don't work out. I'd also have to buy another one from Florida for about $150. It'd cost me $750 alone in airfare and at least $200 in gas to drive, not including accommodations. I think that a PPI and delivery is probably the most economical option, though I haven't ever purchased a car without personally checking it out.

I believe I have the financing situation sorted out, it's a matter of the PPI and shipping logistics now.

Thanks again for the warm welcome and quick responses. I look forward to spending time in this forum, you all seem like a good group of people!

The Texas deal didn't work out, but I pulled the trigger on a relatively locally owned low mile 2008 C6 Z51! The unfortunate part is that I didn't realize how steep our apartment garage is and think it's pretty unlikely I'll be able to get it up the main entrance without scraping =(

Scrape indeed! I purchased a 2011 GS which the previous owner had lowered in front. Looks really great. Very cool. However i am scraping every pebble (well almost) and certainly every driveway. I will have my favorite shop raise it to stock height and do an alignment.
If your car has been lowered its fairly easy to get it back to stock.

Congrats on your C6! It looks great. I loved mine when I had it. A lot of the scraping you are probably hearing is from the plastic wind deflector. But if you want piece of mind, check out the steel scrape guards. You can buy them online decently priced.
