Hey guys and gals. I am Kevin and I am shopping for my first corvette. I would like to be in the C4 Family. I have some general ideas about what to look for. I am looking for 94 - 96 as my preference. with the LT 1, is high mileage an deal breaker, considering the current owner has had it more than 5 years.......
A coupe, no convertible, my beautiful bride and I like to take weekend trips and the convertible lacks the storage.....
I live at the end of the world in Engelhard, NC...... Going Wednesday to look at a 96 LT 1 coupe...... high mileage.
Looked at a 95 with low mileage today, but the interior was so tacki. The guy put vinyl carbon fiber print all over the interior. the exterior was immaculate, especially with the C5 wheels. The other good about the C5 wheels was the fact that all were the same size, so good for tire rotation and tire life. ......
So, Hey
One important factor to consider. No matter what year/age of the vehicle. Make/take the time to find a person with a lift or make arrangements at a Tire shop that you have done business with in the past, to take the "potential" buy and closely inspect the entire undercarriage . What you can't see sitting on the ground, can become very Visible and may make you more aware of how much mula you can expect to spend in the coming months or year when you can see the entire underside. Frame, bushings, exhaust, Brake(BREAK) rusted lines, springs, etc. Even if you have to pay $20 or $50, you will Thank yourself later
Well, I pulled the trigger. Third owner of a 1996 Coupe. Very good interior, very good exterior, strong motor and trans. Runs strong, shifts smooth but firm. A few minor things to tinker on, but overall, very good condition. White, by the way, black/gray interior, power seats......Drove her home 300 miles..... no hickups.....well just one... cooling fan only working with a/c turned on..... so a sensor must have failed......
rebuilt tranny with about 6k, new radiator just this week, (will check all connectors), tires near new with factory wheels (that will probably change). I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable I was on the ride home.....My beautiful bride drove our POV home, she hates interstate driving....
Man that thing will run, bone stock.....
