Hello CF members. My name is Tom Jenkins and I have a 63 silver coup.
I live in the east bay about 30 miles from San Francisco.
I bought my first Corvette 49 years ago (May of 1968) upon returning from Viet Nam. It was a Cascade Green 1960 with 2 tops and the 270 hp engine. It was a 4 speed. I owned it until 1973 when it became the down payment on my first house. I always wanted a 63 FI coup ,but they were still to expensive for a E-4 with 1 1/2 years left on my enlistment. I drove the wheels off of it and scrapped the original 283 for a hot rodded 327.That was in the days when original was not important.
After being married and raising a daughter I decided to get back into the hobby. I found a basket case 63 coup that needed everything. The body was stripped to bare glass, and was sitting on the frame. Most of the " 63 only " parts were there but the born withe motor and drive train were gone, but it did include a FI unit with the air cleaner and radiator support. It took 18 years and a divorce before I got it back together.
I will be looking for help in finally getting it running correctly. It has a date correct 327 with all the correct 360 hp internals (forged pistons, duntov cam [not a reproduction] steel crank, 67 hp rods, 461X heads with 202/160 valves big pan, big dampener and 2 1/2 " off road exhaust. I want to change it from ported vacuum to full time. I added power brakes. It has the drum brakes.
I have rambled on long enough. Just wanted to say hello and give a bit of back ground. I know you all like pictures (so do I) and will post them when I figure that process out.
Welcome back to Corvette ownership and welcome to the forum.
Be sure to spend a lot of time in the C1/C2 sections - you'll find a lot of great information there.
I have owned this car for 29 years (bought it for my 40th birthday).
It has been back on the road since 2006. I do not know how to put this thread in the C-1/2 section.
Thanks for any help
